Our house Mezcal Doña Vega

We are so proud to announce that our new house Mezcal  is Doña Vega Espadin!

Something incredible happens when a group of women come together to craft their own original recipe, for a drink that has been part of Oaxcan life for generations
Doña Vega is founded and produced by Mexican women who set out to make mezcal more accessible and approachable.

SONYA VEGA, OWNER

& FOUNDER

Creating a modern take on mezcal began simply as a personal project. Vega’s love of mezcal was sparked by her Mexican friends and family who introduced her to the fascinating world of the agave-based liquor. While Vega was obsessed with the bold taste, she found that many versions were too smoky or intense.

During her free time, the former PR executive was determined to create the perfect mezcal, traveling throughout the Oaxaca region of Mexico to research and finesse her blend which became, Doña Vega Mezcal. Vega’s current and creative blend honors the bold tradition and unique flavors of this centuries old spirit with a modern twist.

"Our love for the outstanding has led us to honor this land, making wines that all

Mexicans can be proud of"

Monte Xanic was founded in 1987 by Eric, Hans, Manuel, Ricardo and Tomás, all great lovers of good wine and with a common dream: to create quality Mexican wines that would position Mexico on the international oenology map.
At a time when no one imagined it possible to create a premium Mexican wine that could represent the best of Mexico and of which all Mexicans could feel proud, they visualized it as possible. “If we don't sell it, we take it” was one of the founders' favorite phrases.
Monte Xanic is the fruit of that friendship, it overcomes storms, moves mountains and reminds us that life is to be enjoyed and shared, just like good wines.

More of what we offer....

women in the tequila & Mezcal Industry

Tequila and Mezcal are part of our DNA,

The history extends to the time before Hernán Cortés attacked and murdered the Aztec in Mexico, who used to make a drink from the heart of the blue agave plant. Later, in the town of (you guessed it!) Tequila, Mexico, the first large-scale distiller of tequila was born– sometime in the 1600s– after the creation of mezcal.  All tequilas are mezcal but not all mezcals are tequila,  Modern tequila is actually traced back to the 1700s and 1800s with the emergence of the Cuervo and Sauza families, who began distilling tequila at large scales.

Women are increasingly becoming the outward face of mezcal and Tequila, a belated, but nevertheless inspiring movement worthy of amplifying. After all, legend has it that a female deity, Mayahuel, is the goddess of agave!

We are proud to  explore these award-winning, women-led mezcal and tequila brands that are diversifying this dynamic spirits sector. While each has her own signature style, they all share a dual purpose of producing more balanced, approachable spirit and promoting the role of women in this still overwhelmingly patriarchal sector. Their stories are inspirational and motivating, showing us that yes, we can. Our Mission is to bring these amazing brands to you and share those stories. We hope you enjoy their products as much as we do.

We are proud to bring to our table: Yola Mezcal from Yola Jimenez, Mijenta from Ana Maria RomeroLa Gritona & Leyenda De Mexico from Melly Barajas, Casa Dragones from Bertha Gonzales Nieves, and more to come!!!
